Yes—Mike’s is proudly family-owned and operated. Our story began in 1951, when Mike Diorides immigrated from Cyprus with a dream and a deep love of food and family. In 1977, he opened Mike’s to share both with the Norfolk community. Today, the restaurant is still run by Mike’s daughter Helen and her husband David, alongside her sisters Chrissie and Maria—keeping his legacy alive with every dish.

Yes—Mike’s is proudly veteran-owned and operated. The restaurant is co-owned and co-operated by Master Chief Petty Officer David Emmons, U.S. Navy SEAL (Ret.), who runs the business alongside his wife, Helen, and her sisters, Chrissie and Maria. As a family with deep military roots, we’re honored to serve and support our community—especially our fellow military families, veterans, and first responders.
